Holy Cow

Cheese and sex, friendship and family, but mainly cheese are the subjects of Louise Courvoisier’s fantastic debut. Boasting wonderful performances from the young leads, particularly Clément Faveau as the teenager who must adult up to fill the wellington boots of his dead dad. His solution to join a cheesemaking competition gives the film its through line but it’s as much about the meandering of a summer in the working countryside so vivid you can smell the cut grass and dung.
